name: Tohsaka Rinage: about 16 years old
nationality: Japanese
profession: student
family: None, after the death of her father she lives alone (although she has a sister)
likes: pick on people, sleeping, practicing magic
dislikes: undecision, being considered a tomboy, failing in her activities
magic powers: Several, she also has an useful set of mana gemstones.
servant: Archer (and Saber for a while, during Unlimited Blade Works)
personality: Rin is a very nice person, although she tries to look cool and she wants to take distances from common people and that's probably why she sometimes appears as too arrogant or too much proof of herself (and as Shirou says, a sort of dictator like). She tends to keep all her doubts and problems in her heart, probably because this is the price of being a Magician as she is, requiring many sacrifices for powers and tradition in exchange. She's a very serious person who doesn't enjoy too much jokes and who's always expecting the same conscious behaviour from those she interacts with. She's strong and determined, probably because she doesn't want to ruin the good name of her family or maybe because she doesn't want to disappoint herself and her great expectations. She's willing to win the Holy War, but she can't blindly kill people, especially those she deeply likes, as Shirou. She also knows she's greatly admired by her classmates because of grace and her beauty and she turns down lors of guys who're asking her a date (like Shinji). She has her own ideals and she's coherent with the path she chooses, despite her decision involve her many troubles and a large number of enemies. She really likes Shirou (she's probably has a crush for him), but she's too proud to reveal her feelings and she's only helping him by teaching him magic or simply by avoiding to kill him throughout the war. She always wishing for the best, and that's probably why she's disappointed in getting Archer and not Saber, although she makes a good team with him and they get along pretty well.
spoilers warning !!!
personal story: Rin belongs to a very famous family of magicians, involved in the creation of this dangerous game, the war of the Holy Grail. She lost her parents when she was pretty young (her father died in the previous war as he was involved as master) and from that time she's learnt how difficult is life for someone who's completly alone. She takes as role as magician seriously, although she does so only to follow the traditions of her family and not because she's that interested in the Holy Grail that much. She believes Magic is really important and that the mages are those who're serving it for several purpouses and mainly to preserve the balance of the world. Although her popularity at school, she has a crush for Emiya Shirou and that's probably the main reason why, despite breaking the rules of the war, she saved his life sacrifing her precious pendant, in order to let him survive. She tries to help him in understanding what a Master is and how to use his magic powers for his good, although he's still his enemy and she wouldn't avoid to kill him as he represents an obstacle to her victory (but she's simply bluffing, since she couldn't harm him). Rin makes an alliance with Shirou when Shinji is attacking the school, trying to get mana from the students, almost killing them. From that point she'll be fighting along side him (helpng him in improving his magic powers and teaching him some basics he doesn't know), withouth betraing their truce and being badly injured in the final part of Fate. In UBW Rin can finally realize her dream to get Saber as a Servant (after breaking her pact with Archer who turned against her and as Caster nullifies her bond with Shirou) and she opens her heart to Shirou, reviling her admiration for his inner strenght and confessino she has always been interested in him (since they were small children). In the last scenario Rin has to take the most difficult decision ever or well killing her sister Sakura in order to stop her from stealing mana from people. She still follows her ideals and that's why she becomes Shirou's enemy despite the fact she loves him and she couldn't harm him. She tries to suppress her feelings, but at the end its because of her love that Sakura can understand her mistakes and turns sane once again. Rin accepts to leave for London in order to become an elite member of the Association.
